TIME TO REMEMBER D-Day

David Stewart Gillies Posted on 06/06/2014 by dsg25701/07/2014

D-Day Remembered

Royal Artillery

Today was the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in France. Most of us have never seen war or how it affects those who were there. We all watch the movies of the heroic events from all over Europe and the true stories that make good viewing. We sympathise with the people in the movies and on the edge of our seats at the Gunfights, putting to the back of our minds that these are based on Facts and actual accounts given by those who were there.

In the Film the longest day it gives the names of some of the Heroes and the actor who played them As D-Day was a multiple assault on Europe and had to be won they Attacked them with almost everything we had The movie portrays only a small part of the actual Day and the various beaches and the troops dropped behind the lines along with the resistance they all had their part to play to help establish the downfall of the Nazi oppressors.

I was a member of the Territorial Army, 105 battery of the 102 Regiment of the Royal Artillery for a few years and got my training in Woolwich in London, i thankfully have never seen a battle and the only time i fired a gun was in training. I am Proud of all the men and woman who fought so bravely between 1939 and 1945 and not just this day which is probable the most important day in the war.

Each and every one of our servicemen and Women deserve our Respect, gratitude and thanks for what they have given to us, we will never know exactly what that is as we all take what we have or get for granted.

So next time you see a ex-serviceman collection for Erskine Hospital, Help for heroes, Mark Wright foundation just remeber you have the money to spend because of them SO give them Some

Bebop Drone and Skycontroller

David Stewart Gillies Posted on 20/12/2015 by dsg25720/12/2015

bebop-drone-and-skycontrollerBebop Drone and Skycontroller

A true piloting experience

Thanks to algorithms developed by Parrot engineers, the Bebop Drone benefits from an exclusive 3-axis image stabilisation system that maintains a fixed angle of the view regardless of the inclination of the drone and its movements caused by wind turbulence. Dock and connect your smartphone or tablet, and sync with your Bebop Drone over Wi-Fi on FreeFlight 3 app or use Skycontroller as a standalone remote control.

With Skycontroller, take control of the drone via two ultra-precise joysticks: the top right stick lets you control the angle of the camera within a 180° field and the top left stick enables you to navigate the app in FPV (First-Person-View) mode. Our goal is to provide pilots with a comprehensive FPV experience. For the moment, FreeFlight 3 App and Skycontroller are compatible with FPV glasses fitted with HDMI input, for example, Zeiss Cinemizer and Sony Personal Viewer. And many more soon!

Astoundingly stable
To ensure optimal stability without compromising the maneuverability, the Bebop Drone automatically analyses data from numerous 3-axis sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer. One ultrasound sensor with an 8 meter reach, one pressure sensor and one vertical camera to mesure speed.

14 megapixels “Fisheye” camera
Equipped with a 14 megapixel “fisheye” camera, the Parrot Bebop Drone records videos and takes pictures within a 180° field of view with remarkable image quality. Full-digital image stabilisation technology allows the Bebop Drone to take remarkably stable and clear aerial footage regardless of the drones movements, as well as providing a splash and dust proof lens. Action cameras often show distorted horizontal lines, the Parrot Bebop Drone camera provides undistorted lines resulting in a perfect, uncurved horizon.

4 new ways to pilot your Parrot Bebop Drone with Skycontroller!
1. Pilot Bebop Drone with only the Skycontroller: benefit from a long
Wi-Fi range
2. Pilot Bebop Drone with Skycontroller and a smartphone or tablet (not included): enjoy more control over a short Wi-Fi range
3. Pilot Bebop Drone with Skycontroller and FPV glasses (not included): benefit from FPV on your glasses via HDMI port for Bebop Drone camera video streaming with telemetry (distance, altitude, cape, horizon management, battery level and more)
4. Pilot Bebop Drone with Skycontroller, FPV glasses (not included) and a smartphone or tablet (not included): enjoy even more immersive FPV flights. Add more fun by sharing a live video stream of your drone’s view with your friends through the smartphone or tablet!

Freeflight 3: An ultra intuitive application
Parrot Bebop Drone comes with a free piloting application “Freeflight 3” for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. The user-friendly application was developed for usability allowing the pilot to be entirely focused on the pleasure of flying. From the home page of the app the pilot can access basic functionalities: piloting, photos/videos, flight plan, Cloud “Pilot Academy”…

“Freeflight 3” offers users complete control of their altitude and speed settings and piloting mode (accelerometer, virtual joystick…). It also includes fun features such as one-touch Flip! The Parrot Bebop Drone photo and video stream is synchronised in real time with your smartphone: instantly share your best photos on Facebook or Instagram and showcase your flights on Youtube with the touch of a finger.

State of the art GPS functions
During flights, the user receives real time data which is very helpful for more accurate piloting. This never before seen flight data is crucial to insuring the Bebop Drone image quality thanks to its 3-axis unique stabilisation. The User receives sound alerts and the piloting HUD displays all relevant information, making it easier to pilot Bebop Drone. Includes: where is my Bebop Drone, distance, altitude, horizon management.

Parrot Bebop Drone generates its own Wi-Fi hotspot
MIMO Wi-Fi connection: Parrot Bebop Drone embarks 2 dual-band Wi-Fi antennas that allows it to handle both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz MIMO frequencies. It generates its own Wi-Fi 802.11 network. Depending on the network interference, you can select the frequency of your choice.

180° vision controlled by the pilot
The pilot can control the angle of the camera directly in the piloting application with a simple movement of the thumb. The horizontal movement on a 180° angle is fully digital and does not affect your drone’s movements.

Range extender
Skycontroller benefits from a doubled WiFi connection. Optimized for a perfect connection and latency reduction, Skycontroller is safer and adapted for long distance flights. Enjoy a robust Wi-Fi link specially designed for Bebop, the long distance or short distance Wi-Fi connection maximises interoperability with your tablet or smartphone.
Return Home
When “Return Home” is selected the Bebop drone returns directly to its starting position when the altitude is greater than 10 metres. If the altitude is less or equal to 10 metres, it will rise and stabilise itself at 10 metres before returning to its take-off position in a straight line. Once it has reached its take-off position, it will stop and hover 2 metres above the ground.

Fully customisable Skycontroller is an Android-powered device and the FreeFlight 3 app is installed by default. Parrot’s open-source software enables developers to extend the functionalities of the Skycontroller. Plug any USB device to enhance piloting possibilities.
