Lodge Western Burns night

David Stewart Gillies Posted on 19/01/2014 by dsg25709/04/2016

On Friday 17th January I visited Lodge western  where they had a Burns Night. The meeting itself was quick. The Evening was opened by the chairman john Gray,   the haggis was piped in by Donald Finlayson and the haggis was addressed by Andrew McLean before the meal afterwards the immortal memory was given by David Neilson (first time and very good ) the toast to the lassies was given by Donald Finlayson (with only 48 hours notice) this was very entertaining and well received. There was also entertainment between the toasts by the band  ” Hair O’ the Dug” who played  traditional  Scottish and  burns music. Although the night was free, there was a raffle which I did not win anything at but Robert Geddes did and donated it to St. Vincent Plantation 259

Great night Had by all

St. Andrew of Glasgow No 69

David Stewart Gillies Posted on 15/01/2014 by dsg25709/04/2016

On Tuesday 14th January  along with M.E.C Alec Harley  I visited St. Andrews  where I was expecting a Burns night by a Ayrshire Chapter But the night was Quite different. The Companions conferred  an Excellent master Degree, in which I took part as the conductor, a part I have not done for 10 years I messed up the first part by missing a small sentence but apart from that everything else went well. After the meeting at the harmony we heard  an excellent rendition of the mortal memory by the first Principal of Pollok Royal Arch Chapter No.326, They also provided a meal of Soup , then   haggis, neeps and Potatoes  followed by buscuits and cheese. The raffles were excellent and although I did not win anything  M.E.C Alec Harley as usual did win something

All in all a Excellent night for all
